This wonderful trip has the most beautiful elements is Guatemala. We visit the best natural assets of the country, we will also witness the traditions of the indigenous people and visit the most important archaeological sites which are: Yaxhá, Ceibal, Aguateca and Tikal. Your will ride on a small boat trough the jungle and see the most amazing landscapes and wild life. The tour stars by visiting the colonial jewel of Antigua Guatemala and then, travel to the highlands of Sololá and Quetzaltenango where you will see the most beautiful and colorful markets, without forgetting the local people and the most important market of all, Chichicastenango. When we exit the highlands, we will begin with the Mayan route using the same ways the ancient merchants used.

Day 1: Airport – Hotel
Aventures Tropicales will pick you up at the international airport La Aurora and transfer you to your chosen hotel.

Day 2: Guatemala City - Antigua -B
Breakfast- Transfer to Antigua. Guided visit of the city in English. We will visit the colonial city and all its colonial architecture. We will also visit the ruins left by several earthquakes many years ago. You will have the chance to shop in the handicraft markets and get great prices. Free afternoon and sleeping arrangements in Antigua.

Options: Climb the Pacaya volcano.

Day 3:Antigua - Lago Atitlán -B
Breakfast- Transfer to Lago Atitlan, located in the department of Sololá in the highlands. We will visit the first established city of Central America, Iximché, then we will continue to Sololá. Sleeping arrangements in Panajachel.

Day 4: Lago Atitlán -B
Breakfast- Short walk to the small boat so we can ride trough the most beautiful lake in the world, surrounded by three volcanoes and 12 small townships. We will visit Santiago Atitlán, a mayan saint Maximón and have the chance to swim in the lake. In the afternoon we will have a walk around a part of the lake where you will see the local traditions and how the indigenous people take full advantage of this natural resource.

Day 5: Lago Atitlán -Chichicastenango -Totonicapan -B
Breakfast- Transfer to Chichicastenango. Visit of the local and biggest market of the country where indigenous people from other towns come to sell their products. You will find fruits, vegetables, pottery, handicrafts, textiles, farm animals, silverware and many other things. After lunch we will climb a small hill called Pascual Abaj which is sacred for the indigenous people and we may have the chance to witness a local ceremony. Transfer to Totonicapán where we will spend the night.

Day 6:Totonicapan- San Francisco El Alto - Guatemala City -BD
Breakfast- Visit to the church of San Andres Xecul, one of the most colorful churches in America, is ultrabaroque style and each color has a meaning to the indigenous people. Built in the XVI century. Transfer to San Francisco el Alto located at 2,562 meters above the sea level we will visit the town and also zunil, where we will enjoy thermal ponds. Transfer to Guatemala City where you will spend the night –Supper-.

Day 7: Guatemala City – Puerto Barrios -BLD
Breakfast- We will depart towards the Caribbean shores. We will stop to have lunch and you will have the chance to relax in a fresh water pool. We will continue towards the archaeological site of
Quirigua, where you will admire the tallest “estela” in the mayan civilization. We continue to Puerto Barrios where we will spend the night and have dinner.

Day 8: Puerto Barrios – Livingston -BLD
Breakfast- Water expedition across Río Dulce towards a small beach where you can swim. Lunch- We continue to Siete Altares where we will visit the place and finish in Livingston where we will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 9: Livingston – Rio Dulce -BL
Breakfast- We continue in our water expedition across Rio Dulce, we will visit lagoons, a bird island, and a handicraft shop in the middle of the forest. Sleeping arrangements in Rio Dulce.

Day 10: Rio Dulce – Flores -BL
Breakfast- Transfer to Laguna el Paraiso where you will enjoy a bath in sulphur waters which are known for their medical properties. The pond is located in the middle of a tropical forest, surrounded by vegetation. –Lunch- Transfer to the island if Flores in the department of Petén. Free evening. Sleeping arrangements in Flores.

Day 11: Ceibal – Lago Petexbatún -BLD
Breakfast- Transfer to Sayaxché where we will take a small boat to cross Rio La Pasión. We might observe crocodiles, turtles, wild birds and fish. We will travel in the same rout the ancient mayas used to trade their products with other cities. We will visit the archaeological site of Ceibal – Lunch- continue over the Petexbatún lake –Diner- Sleeping arrangements on the lake’s shore.

Day 12: Lago Petexbatún – Aguateca – Flores -BL
Breakfast- We continue over the lake towards the archaeological site of Aguateca, a natural fortress built over a cliff used to protect the region against the invasions of other civilizations. –Lunch- Return by water to Sayaxche and then by bus to Flores where we will spend the night.

Day 13: Flores –Yaxha -BLD
Breakfast- Transfer to the archaeological site of Yaxhá, located in the heart of the mayan biosphere. This region has an amazing value in archaeological treasures, as well as wild life, including birds, mammals and reptiles. Once we get to Yaxhá we will take another small boat towards the island of Topoxté, another archaeological site where we might see crocodiles. After lunch we will visit Yaxhá where we will have the chance to see the sunset from the top of the highest temple of the site. –Dinner- Sleeping arrangements in an ecolodge.

Day 14: Yaxhá – Tikal – Guatemala City -BD
Transfer to Tikal –Breakfast- Visit to the ancient city of Tikal, the largest site ever discovered. Transfer to the local airport where you will take an internal flight to the City. You will spend the night at the City.

Day 15: Hotel – Airport -B
Breakfast- Transfer to the airport.
